2nd annual Cinco de Mike-O

Hello everyone! On behalf of Mike’s Hope and the Cutter family, thank you for coming out to the second annual Cinco de Mike-O!

Over this past year, thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to put Mike’s Hope into action by partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia—an incredible organization founded in Norfolk by the Rotary Club back in 1919. What started as the Boys Club of Norfolk has grown into 9 clubs across 7 cities, serving kids ages 6 to 18. Their mission is to help all young people—especially those who need it most—reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens– all of which were Mike's embodied core values. Their program outcomes—to build strong character and citizenship, along with healthy lifestyles—align beautifully with our mission at Mike’s Hope.

We’re proud to have been a 2025 Great Futures Sponsor for the Boys and Girls Club, and we’re just getting started in our foundation journey as we look to find additional area partnerships that align with Mike’s Hope while also seeking opportunities for future initiatives that the foundation can stand up on it’s own.

This year, Mike’s Hope is looking to take on a new challenge: launching a sports equipment drive for youth in need. It’s a heavy lift—but one we believe can make a powerful impact. We’re  excited to work on teaming up with the Young Men’s Service League, where Archer is a proud member, and Hampden-Sydney, where Stanton just wrapped up his freshman year. Together, we aim to rally resources, volunteers, and community partners to help break down one of the biggest barriers kids face when trying to participate in sports: access to basic gear.

We know from Mike’s life—and his coaching for so many years—that sports don’t just build strong bodies. Being a part of a team builds leadership, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging. And that’s exactly the kind of legacy we want to keep alive.

We are proud to announce that this year’s Cinco de Mike-O event raised $3465! And– I think we had a lot of fun doing so. Your continued support helps us carry forward Mike Cutter’s incredible legacy—one rooted in community, opportunity, and an unwavering love for the city of Norfolk and the Hampton Roads region. Thank you for being part of this journey of hope!
